Linsco are currently recruiting for a Junior Quantity Surveyor to start work on a construction site in Nottingham
You will be responsible for managing all aspects of the contractual and financial side of construction projects. This role involves cost estimation, budget management, and ensuring the project is completed within its projected budget.
Key Responsibilities:
Cost Management:
- Cost Estimation: Prepare detailed cost estimates for all project stages, from initial concepts through to the final build.
- Budget Preparation: Develop and manage project budgets, ensuring financial objectives are met.
- Cost Control: Monitor project expenditures and implement cost control measures to prevent budget overruns.
Contract Management:
- Tender Preparation: Prepare tender and contract documents, including bills of quantities.
- Contract Negotiation: Negotiate contracts with clients, subcontractors, and suppliers to ensure favourable terms.
- Contract Administration: Administer contracts, ensuring all parties fulfil their contractual obligations.
Financial Reporting:
- Valuations and Payments: Conduct regular valuations of work in progress and prepare detailed reports to determine interim and final payments.
- Financial Reporting: Prepare accurate financial reports, including cost analysis, forecasts, and budgets.
- Cash Flow Management: Monitor and manage project cash flows to ensure adequate liquidity throughout the project lifecycle.
Risk Management:
- Risk Assessment: Identify and assess potential risks to the project's financial health and develop strategies to mitigate them.
- Dispute Resolution: Address any contractual disputes or financial issues promptly and effectively.
Cost Analysis:
- Cost Tracking: Track project costs against budgets and forecasts, analysing any variances.
- Value Engineering: Identify opportunities for cost savings and value improvements without compromising quality or project timelines.
Liaison and Communication:
- Stakeholder Communication: Maintain regular communication with clients, architects, engineers, and contractors to provide updates on financial status and resolve any issues.
- Team Collaboration: Work closely with project managers, site managers, and other team members to ensure cohesive project delivery.
Compliance and Documentation:
- Regulatory Compliance: Ensure all project costs and contractual obligations comply with relevant regulations and industry standards.
- Record Keeping: Maintain accurate and comprehensive records of all financial transactions, contracts, and correspondence.
Continuous Improvement:
- Professional Development: Stay updated with the latest industry trends, technologies, and best practices in quantity surveying and construction cost management.
- Process Improvement: Continuously seek ways to improve cost management processes and enhance project financial performance.
